Rhodopi International Theater Collective
2006 Session

July 7 to August 14

The 2006 Rhodopi International Theater Collective will re-contextualize the myth of Dionysus.

In addition to the most obvious connection, geography, its story is of particular relevance to The Collective's mission. It represents the basic human need for liberation, and the urge to give voice to humanity's primal nature. In essence, Dionysus represents mankind's intrinsic drive to create art. Parallels can easily be found in several cultures.

Thus, the 2006 faculty will consist of teaching artists and scholars from Russia, Tibet, Turkey, Croatia, Bulgaria, the United States, among others. In addition to artistic and recreational retreats, the schedule will include excursions to numerous archaeological and historical points of interest- related to Dionysus and Thracian culture and mythology.
